NEWS ALERT: Bionetix® Presents an Alternative to Traditional Chemical Cleaners at ISSA 2021!

After two years of pandemic travel limitations, it was a pleasure to see Bionetix® customers face-to-face again at the ISSA North America convention!

Although overall traffic was slower than normal at the November 16th-18th conference in Las Vegas, the Bionetix® booth still attracted a good number of visitors. Our team was able to speak with a variety of cleaning industry professionals representing septic tank maintenance, restaurant and grease trap maintenance, wholesale chemicals, wastewater treatment, and cleaning product distribution.

These guests came looking for the ecologically friendly “green” cleaners, biologicals, and enzymatic treatments that make Bionetix® stand out from conventional chemicals thanks to underlying “probiotics” technology. They were also interested in how to secure these biological products in the most economical and/or convenient delivery systems, such as concentrates, tabs, and blocs.

We are thankful for those who stopped by to talk “green” cleaning technologies and look forward to the potential for further conversations in the future! Contact us any time to learn more:

PRESS RELEASE: Reduce Grease Trap Buildup, Odors, and Fines with ECO-TRAP™

October 27, 2021

Restaurants, cafeterias, and other food-processing facilities often face grease trap maintenance challenges. Too much fat buildup can lead to bad smells, clogged drains, and even fines for exceeding acceptable BOD or FOG (fat, oil, grease) discharge levels. Bionetix® International offers a biological solution for keeping the fat in check and grease traps under control with ECO-TRAP™.

ECO-TRAP™ is a grease trap treatment containing specialty additives that loosen and liquefy heavy grease deposits, thereby speeding up their degradation. ECO-TRAP™ reduces oil and fat accumulation, prevents emergency blockages, and reduces BOD and bad odors. ECO-TRAP™ contains biological nutrients and stimulants that boost the natural bacterial population to form a larger colony. The more beneficial bacteria are present, the more power is available to break down the fats, oils, and greases filling up the grease trap.

Keeping grease trap contents under control helps facilities avoid a variety of nuisances:

• Mechanical Problems: Scum buildup is reduced, pipe drainage is improved, and emergency blockages or grease trap overflows are avoided.
• Compliance Problems: Facilities having trouble meeting BOD or FOG requirements in their waste discharge can bring these down to an acceptable level to avoid fines and fees.
• Odor Problems: Reducing the amount of fat in the grease trap can get rid of bad odors that are offensive to workers and customers.

ECO-TRAP™ comes in three different forms to meet the user’s preference. ECO-TRAP™ L is a liquid version that is typically users’ number one choice because of automatic metering. It can be added manually to the grease trap, but it is often injected automatically with the aid of a pump like those used for restaurant dishwashers. This cuts down on the manual labor of daily application. If manual labor is not a concern, users can apply ECO-TRAP™ P, a powder version packaged in water-soluble packets that can be added directly to the grease trap in just a few minutes at the end of the day. Still, some users prefer the ECO-TRAP™ BLOC, which contains biological nutrients and stimulants in a slow-release bloc form that can be added directly to a less turbulent (but not dead) area of the grease trap for extended treatment.

There are a variety of potential users that stand to benefit from ECO-TRAP™. Restaurants and food courts are especially good candidates, as are food processing factories. One excellent example of solving fat and grease buildup problems comes from a fish canning factory that operated 24/7.Their grease trap was so overloaded that the water was completely obscured with a layer of fat. The severity of the problem may have been due to the use of seawater in factory processes slowing the digestion of fats due to high chloride content. In spite of this, just two months after applying ECOTRAP™ in conjunction with BCP22™ (a similar, extra strength treatment for FOG), the water surface had cleared up by 70%, leaving only 30% covered by a fat layer. In another case, a starch factory was able to dramatically reduce TSS and BOD5 levels in just two weeks by adding ECOTRAP™ and BCP22™ to the drain.

Grease traps can be a catch-all for many fat-related problems. Regular use of ECO-TRAP™ helps dissipate these problems so restaurants and food courts can focus on delivering nourishment to people instead of chasing drain clogging and odor problems.

CASE HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: Case History #21: Solving Restaurant Grease Trap and Sewer Problems

October 26, 2021

Frequent sewer clogging—plus bad smells from the grease trap—had become a headache at one restaurant in Russia. In 2017, they decided to try adding Bionetix® ECO-TRAP™ L and BCP22™ to the sewer pipe and grease trap. The results were so good that the restaurant wrote an official letter recommending the products for use in other food production facilities!

NEWS ALERT: Grease Trap Cleanup in Action!

October 26, 2021

Do you ever groan when it comes to dealing with grease traps? Fats, oils, and greases can build up quickly for restaurants and other food industry facilities that process high fat content. Grease traps are there to keep too much fat from going into the sewer, but, unfortunately, grease still tends to build up, overflow, and create bad odors. The good news is that we are seeing real life successes with BCP22™ and ECO-TRAP™ treatments from Bionetix® International!

Just this year, a canned fish factory in Russia began applying these biological products to their grease traps. The facility, which operates 24/7, had so much fat built up in the grease trap that it completely obscured the water. The factory uses seawater in its production processes, and this can potentially slow FOG (fats, oils, and greases) digestion. However, after biological treatment with BCP22™ and ECO-TRAP™ started, the fat began to gradually decrease even in the presence of high chloride wastewater (17,000 mg/L). In just two months, 70% of the
water surface was clear and only 30% was still covered by fat! The product success has led the factory to continue ordering the products and start planning experiments at some of their other corporate group locations. Stay tuned for more developments!

CASE HISTORY SPOTLIGHT: Case History #33: Eliminating Potato Scab in Japanese Test Field

October 20, 2021

A potato farmer was having high rates of potato scab infection in one of the highest-producing potato growing regions in Japan. In two fields measuring 65 hectares (160.6 acres) total, the farmer’s infection rate had reached approximately 85% prior to 2019.

The farmer set aside 35 hectares (86 acres) as Test Area No. 1 and sprayed ORGANIC PLUS™ RH (diluted in water) on the soil in the spring of 2019. Potato scab was eliminated in this test area for the 2019 growing season. Success was credited to the synergistic action of rhamnolipids and other naturally derived ingredients in ORGANIC PLUS™ RH helping to control the problem through natural mechanisms

NEWS ALERT: Large New Zealand Dairy Cooperative Endorses Bionetix® Lagoon Treatment Technology

October 20, 2021

We are excited to announce that a large dairy cooperative in New Zealand has endorsed Bionetix® biotechnology for the treatment of wastewater effluent!

Farmers in the dairy cooperative have been facing problems with their wastewater lagoons for manure storage, so the organization coordinated trials of BCP80™ with Bionetix® International’s New Zealand distributor. Following the trials, the cooperative agreed that Bionetix® effluent pond cleaning products would be the recommended technology for their network of more than 10,000 farmers, responsible for a large percent of the world’s dairy exports. Although COVID lockdowns have slowed training and introduction of the technology, several farmers have already signed on for a monthly subscription to BCP80™ for more efficient treatment of their manure waste!

BCP80™ enhances and accelerates the biological digestion of animal wastes, reduces costs of manure pit maintenance and drainage, and helps reduce odors. Learn more about it here: https://www.bionetix-international.com/products/bcp80/
